The Manchester v Trafford Derby – An alternative…

…formation for Pep’s side.

I’ve already published my main blog piece for today’s game but I just thought I’d ‘pop out’ an alternative formation blog-posting for consideration and fun.

And although I say “fun”, it’s definitely one worthy of some thought, I would say…

Ladies & gentleman, the fluid 5-3-2 / 5-5-0 / (3-5-2)

Subs: Bravo, Angelino, Otamendi, Gundogan, Foden, B. Silva, Mahrez.

How’s that for a slice of fried gold?!

This is assuming, of course, that Zinchenko is fit to start and is fully ready & 'up to speed' to play at least 60-minutes, or there abouts. If not, I’d stick Angelino in that position. Anyhow…

Ederson, of course, in net.

With Manyoo’s main threat coming down the flanks at pace and with definite threats up front; I think a back, ‘central 3’ of John, Fernandinho & Kyle and with Oleksandr & Joao either side of those…AND with Rodders in front of the ‘back-3’; it should be enough to nullify our visitor’s threats.

This also gives us MASSIVE potential to stretch Manyoo; with overlapping wing-play from our wing backs creating a potent, 3-5-2 attack; with Rodders having half-an-eye on protecting the back-3 as the rest ‘bomb forward’ with intent.

The passing, game-controlling masters of David & Kevin in the middle ‘doing their thing’ and ahead of those in a fluid, sometimes deep, sometimes wide, sometimes narrow-attacking style would be Raheem & Gabriel. Manyoo wouldn’t know WHO to mark!

Very strong bench options too!

I can’t see for one moment Guardiola choosing to switch to something like this, especially for this game…but it’s good to see that we have this kind of option should we ever feel the need to deploy it in a particular game; one that looks decent, to me anyway, ‘on paper’ at least.

Thank you for indulging me, if-indeed you ‘clicked on’ and kindly read-through it all.

Feel free, as always, to use the comments section…
