All together now: "You've got Negredo in, your Maicon out; in out in out"...OH FORGET IT!
Despite, of course, keeping an eye on 'all things City' since my last post; work issues at least have prevented me from posting anything for a few days. And so for regular readers (thank you!) I just wanted to pop a brief posting on...mainly to say that I won't be posting another for about a week as I head off for a brief holiday in the English countryside.
With temperatures forecasted to be in the mid-80s with wall-to-wall sunshine, it'll be BBQ, fine ales and specialist cheeses all the way for the next few days.
No rest for the Chilean though...
As I 'kick back' and relax, Pellegrini's workload is already gathering pace, with contract negotiations/promises/guarantees with the likes of Pantilimon, Richards and Lescott (to name just a few), transfer outs of the likes of Maicon (to name just one) and talk of Alvaro Negredo & Bruma coming in...and all that before the majority of the players come back to work on Monday (8th July)!
Bruma, AKA Armindo Tué Na Bangna, looks to be a very exciting prospect and one I hope we can snap up before Chelsea (or any of the other dozen or so clubs who I'm sure have been or will be linked with him).
Alvaro looks the business too; someone who has blossomed later on his career and who looks really suited to both City and the Premier League. In his early career he was general a 1 goal in 3 forward, which is no bad striking record at all! But in recent years he's become a 1 in 2 man; thriving from the service of his colleagues; not least Jesus Navas for Sevilla and both Navas and Silva for the Spanish National Team. He only made his international debut in 2009 at the age of 24 and has an almost 1 in 2 for them too; scoring 6 in 14 appearances.
Looks strong; cool finisher and is left footed, which gives Pellegrini the option of 3 attacking forwards in a 4-3-3 come attacking 4-5-1 with Negredo on the left, Navas on the right and Aguero (or whoever else) in the middle. Turning 28 in August; I hope we get him...
With talk (again) of Dzeko still being a target for Napoli (they must be convinced that someone is going to cough up £50-odd million for Cavani), if Edin is 'eadin' out of the door; that'll be an additional striker we'll be looking for no doubt (pick anyone you like from my list in my previous post).
All change...
So as the players drift in to Carrington on Monday morning, I wonder just how many of them are hoping that Pellegrini has removed Mancini's 'Hill of death'?
